The steel parts are treated with deep freezing to temperatures of < 0°C – in most cases, approx. -90°C. Deep freezing serves to reduce the residual austenite content of steel. Residual austenite refers to the concentration of austentite remaining in the structure up to room temperature after quenching.


Deep freezing is used to effectively achieve the highest possible dimensional accuracy as well as minimal internal stress in your workpieces. Undesired conversions can be effectively prevented to guarantee proper function of your parts and tools. In many cases, there are also special requirements from the aerospace industry as well as in the automotive industry.

Suitable for hardenable stainless steels, steels with a chromium concentration of > 5% and Ni-alloyed special-purpose steels.
