THE PROCESS
Phosphating is a chemical process. By immersing the work piece in acidic solutions, the chemical reaction with the base material creates a hard metal phosphate layer bonded to the surface. The layer has a fine crystalline structure and is almost insoluble. Both zinc and magnesium phosphates can be used.
BENEFITS
- good temporary corrosion protection
- reduction in abrasion values
- fine crystalline layer formation
- improved sliding properties
- electrically insulating
- eases subsequent reforming
- partial coating possible
- optical improvement of components
